What this page measures
We count visits and clicks on Download with PostHog, an analytics service. We don’t use cookies or identifiers that stay stored on your computer, so one visit isn’t linked to the next. We only store the domain of the site you came from and the link’s campaign tags, if it has any. With PostHog we don’t work out your location from your IP. Cloudflare, the service that hosts this page, also counts visits in aggregate and without cookies; its reports include the approximate country of each visit.
What the app sends and where
- Captions and translation. They run on your computer: the meeting audio and your microphone are transcribed and translated there, without leaving it.
- Assistant. Only when you ask, the recent part of the meeting and your project notes go to an AI model through OpenRouter, only to providers that state they don’t store what they receive. With your own key, they go directly from your computer; without a key, through the included assistant route.
- Included assistant (Pro + AI and the Free trial). What you ask the assistant and, for notes, the full transcript go through our server on their way to OpenRouter. We don’t store that text: for each request we keep only its type, cost and time, to track your allowance. We ask OpenRouter not to retain it or use it to train models. Along with the text we send a code derived from your account, which doesn’t reveal who you are, to detect abuse.
- Notes at the end. Only when you click Prepare the notes, or if you turned on Always prepare them when a meeting ends, the full meeting transcript goes to OpenRouter by the same route and with the same providers.
- Meeting context. Only when you choose Extract context, the text you pasted goes in full to OpenRouter by the same route. It isn’t stored: only what you review and confirm is kept.
- Deepgram (optional). Only if you choose Deepgram and save your key does the meeting audio go to Deepgram, a transcription service, on your own account.
- Account. Your Live Captions account stores your email, on Supabase, and your app preferences. To prevent repeated accounts, we also keep a normalized form of your email linked to your account: in lowercase, without anything after a + and, for Gmail, without dots.
- Support reports. If you send us a report from the app, we store what you write and, if you attach it, a screenshot or a short screen clip, without audio, on Supabase, along with the app version, the system and the screen you sent it from. Check the screenshot or clip before sending it: it may show information from your meeting. Only you and the support team can see them, and they’re deleted when you delete your data.
- Diagnostics. They’re on when you install the app and you can turn them off in Security, under Diagnostics and usage. Usage analytics, with PostHog, counts which features are used, whether they finish and how long they take, along with the version and system, using a random identifier that isn’t your account. Error reports, with Sentry, send the type of failure, a short technical text, the version, the system and the place in the code where it happened. Neither sends audio, transcripts, translations, notes, keys, your name or your email. Both services store this data in the United States.
- Copy in your account. It’s optional. If you turn it on, your meetings are saved in your Live Captions account, on Supabase, so you can see them from another computer. If you delete a meeting, it’s deleted from the cloud too.
- Payments. If you buy Pro or Pro + AI, Polar, the store that sells and charges the subscription, receives your email and your Live Captions account ID. Polar handles your card details directly; we never see them. Polar never receives audio, transcripts or your keys.
If you delete your data
Deleting your data from the app removes your meetings and all their content. We keep billing records, because we need them for billing and to prevent abuse: your subscription status, how many meetings you used this month and the assistant usage log, with the request type, cost and time, never the text.
